This tour of the Rajasthan, characterised by its painted mansions called havelis, journeys through small sand-blown towns nestled between sprawling expanses of parched land and dunes situated on the easternmost edges of the Thar Desert. The havelis form one of the richest artistic and architectural legacies in India making this one of the most rewarding parts of Rajasthan to explore.

Itinerary

Day 01 - Arrive Delhi

On arrival in Delhi, you’ll be met by your Indus Bound Representative and transferred to your hotel, where you’ll be staying for two nights. Spend the remainder of the day recovering from your journey, and perhaps a stroll around the local neighborhood later. 


Day 02 - In Delhi

Explore Delhi today starting with Old Delhi in the morning: enjoy a cycle rickshaw ride in the bustling lanes of Chandni Chowk followed by the Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. In the afternoon, drive past Lutyens's New Delhi and visit the tomb of Humayun and the Qutab Minar. Spend some time at the Bangla Sahib Sikh Temple for blessings and see & participate in the community kitchen.

Day 03 - Drive to Mandawa

Drive to Mandawa (05-06 Hrs). Afternoon tour of Shekhawati Region, there are mosques, wells called baories and chhatris or cenotaphs and much more to discover in the forgotten land of Mandawa. Also explore the magnificent Mandawa Fort. 


Day 04 - Drive to Bikaner

Drive to Bikaner (04-05 Hrs). Half day tour of the city visiting the Junagarh Fort, one of the few forts in India which stands undefeated even today after five centuries of its construction. Also see the Lallgarh Palace, a stunning Redstone building and an architectural wonder designed by Sir Swinton Jacob. End your day with a visit to the Karni Mata Temple (Rat Temple).


Day 05 - Drive to Jaisalmer

Drive to Jaisalmer (05-06 Hrs). Spend leisure time at your hotel.


Day 06 - In Jaisalmer

Explore the narrow alleyways, walled havelis and medieval Jain temples of Jaisalmer Fort on a guided walking tour after breakfast. In the afternoon, you’ll drive out to the Desert National Park for an evening walk on the great sand dunes at Sam.


Day 07 - Drive to Jodhpur

Drive to Jodhpur (06-07 Hrs). Spend rest of your day at leisure or explore neighborhood with your driver.


Day 08 - In Jodhpur

Visit the impressive Mehrangarh Fort which stands overlooking the whole of Jodhpur as well as getting the chance to explore the busy streets and blue houses. Later discover the bazaars located around the clock tower.


Day 09 - Drive to Narlai

Drive to Narlai (02-03 Hrs). Nestled amongst the Aravalli Hills and surrounded by forested hills and rocky outcrops is Rawla Narlai, the former hunting lodge of Jodhpur’s royal family. There are a wealth of experiences on your doorstep from village walks and treks to leopard safaris and horse riding. Alternatively you can choose to enjoy a steaming cup of tea by the nearby lake as flocks of birds flit through the sky.

Day 10 - Drive to Udaipur

Drive to Udaipur (03-04 Hrs) via the impressive Kumbhalgarh Fort and Temple at Ranakpur. The temple is a renowned Jain temple and is certainly one of the most impressive temples to visit while in Rajasthan. Also, stop to see and walk up to Kumbhalgarh Fort.


Day 11 - In Udaipur

Explore many of the highlights of the city including the City Palace which was built in a flamboyant style and considered the largest of its type in the state. Wander down to the Jagdish Temple nearby before heading into the old city to explore the markets. Late afternoon is the time to be at the water’s edge, soaking up the sunset colours and unique atmosphere of this romantic city with a boat ride in Lake Pichola.

Day 12 - Drive to Bundi

Drive to Bundi (04-05 Hrs) and stay at an old Haveli, almost in the ramparts of the fort. Spend the afternoon walking through the old streets, with the added happiness you'll see almost no other tourists


Day 13 - Drive to Jaipur

Drive to Jaipur (05-06 Hrs). Spend rest of your day at leisure or explore neighborhood with your driver.


Day 14 - In Jaipur

Enjoy a full day’s sightseeing in Jaipur today, beginning with a trip out to Amber, followed by the Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar Observatory and world-famous City Palace museum. Enjoy a local market walk to explore the way of life here.


Day 15 - Drive to Agra

Morning drive to Agra (05-06 Hrs). Closer to Jaipur you would stop at the impressive 9th century step well at Abhaneri. Heading towards Agra, you would be visiting the abandoned city of Fatehpur Sikri enroute.


Day 16 - In Agra

An early start this morning, but worth it for sunrise views of the Taj Mahal. It's also the quietest time to visit, before the crowds arrive. Return back to your hotel and later proceed for your city tour of Agra, including visit to the impressive Agra Fort, a mix of Hindu and Islamic architecture followed by a visit to the ornate tomb of Itamud-ud-Daulah.

Day 17 - Drive to Delhi & Departure Transfer

Morning drive to Delhi Airport (03-04 Hrs) for your flight back home, or continue with your onward journey with us
