Bespoke private journeys through North India, blending legendary heritage hotels, iconic royal palaces, immersive cultural encounters, expert local insights, exceptional service, and meticulously curated experiences tailored to your interests.

Why Travel to North India on a Private Tour?

North India is the subcontinent at its most vivid — ancient empires and sacred rivers, Mughal mausoleums and Himalayan monasteries, royal cities and chaotic bazaars that make no apology for existing on their own terms.

At Indus Bound, we have been designing luxury tours to North India since 2011, and it remains the region we know most intimately. Our North India specialists have personally stayed in the hotels we recommend, walked the alleys they'll guide you through, and built relationships with the local experts who open doors that standard itineraries never reach.

A private tour here means something specific: your own vehicle and driver throughout, a specialist local guide at every major site, and an itinerary that begins from scratch based on your travel dates, pace, and interests. Whether you're seeing the Taj Mahal for the first time, watching dawn prayers at the Varanasi ghats, walking the marble corridors of the Golden Temple in Amritsar, or taking the narrow-gauge toy train up to Shimla — it happens without a group, on your schedule, with people who know exactly where to take you next.

Our North India itineraries cover Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Varanasi, Amritsar, Shimla, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Lucknow, Ladakh, Kashmir, Spiti Valley, and Uttarakhand.

Top Things to do in North India

  • Wander Chandni Chowk, Old Delhi — one of Asia's oldest markets, best explored on foot or by rickshaw before 9am, when the lanes are alive but not yet overwhelmed.
  • Witness Ganga Aarti in Varanasi —  the evening fire ceremony on the ghats is among the most powerful ritual experiences in India; position on a boat for the best vantage.
  • Stand before the Taj Mahal at dawn — Agra's iconic mausoleum reads differently in the early light; our guides know entry timings that avoid the midday crowds.

Every Indus Bound private North India tour includes a dedicated air-conditioned vehicle and driver for the duration of your trip, specialist local guides at each destination, and personally vetted hotel accommodation — from heritage palace hotels to intimate boutique properties. Internal transfers by road, rail, or domestic flight are arranged seamlessly. You'll also have a dedicated trip coordinator and 24/7 on-ground support throughout. International flights are not included. Every itinerary is built from scratch around your dates, pace, and interests — nothing is off-the-shelf.

For a focused introduction — Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur — six to eight days is a comfortable minimum. To add Varanasi, allow ten to twelve days. If you want to include Amritsar, Shimla, or the Himalayan foothills, fourteen days gives you the right pace without feeling rushed. For Kashmir or Ladakh combined with the north Indian plains, sixteen to eighteen days is ideal. We always recommend building in at least one unhurried day in each destination — North India rewards travellers who slow down.

Yes. North India is one of the world's most well-established tourist regions and receives millions of international visitors annually. On a private tour with Indus Bound, every logistical detail is managed in advance — vetted hotels, trusted drivers, experienced guides, and a dedicated coordinator available around the clock. Our guests travel with complete peace of mind. As with any destination, we brief every traveller on local customs, areas to be mindful of, and practical safety considerations specific to their itinerary before departure.

North India has some of the finest heritage hotels in the world. In Delhi, the Oberoi New Delhi and The Lodhi are consistently exceptional. In Agra, the Oberoi Amarvilas — with its unobstructed Taj Mahal views — is in a category of its own. Jaipur offers the Rambagh Palace and Samode Haveli for authentic Rajput grandeur. In Varanasi, Taj Nadesar Palace provides an elegant retreat from the city's intensity. For Kashmir, the Khyber Himalayan Resort in Gulmarg is outstanding. Our specialists have personally stayed in every property we recommend.

Absolutely, and many of our most popular itineraries do exactly that. North India pairs beautifully with Rajasthan for a broader cultural journey, with Kerala for a contrast of Mughal grandeur and tropical backwaters, or with wildlife destinations like Ranthambore and Kanha for a safari element. Nepal and Bhutan are natural extensions if you're already in the Himalayan north. Because every Indus Bound itinerary is tailor-made, combining regions is straightforward — we design the routing, pacing, and logistics so the journey flows naturally.
